Working Visit To The Auditor General's Office Of Singapore And Australian National Audit Office

On 6 May 2013, a three member delegation led by Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Mat Salleh, Auditor General of Brunei Darussalam conducted a working visit to the Auditor General’s Office of Singapore. The delegation was received by His Excellency Mr. Willie Tan Yoke Meng, Auditor General of Singapore at the Auditor General’s Office (AGO).

During the working visit, presentations were made by AGO's audit personnel in areas relating to the audit institution's mission and public accountability to its stakeholders, human resource development as well as an overview of its audit planning and methodology. The working visit ended on a high note with an official lunchon hosted by the Auditor General of Singapore

Furthermore, from 8 to 9 May 2013, the three member delegation continued their working visit to the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) in Canberra. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Steve Chapman, Deputy Auditor General on behalf of the Auditor General of Australia.

During the two day working visit, the delegation was briefed by subject matter experts on ANAO’s governance framework, an overview of audit processes and methodology in relation to financial audits, performance audits, information technology audits and quality assurance review as well as human resource development.

At the end of each day briefing, there were intensive discussions between the subject matter experts and delegates on areas of mutual interest and concern in relation to the different types of audits conducted by ANAO as well as training and development in the fields concerned.

Overall, the purpose of the working visits to both the Auditor General’s Office of Singapore and the Australian National Audit Office was to learn and exchange knowledge about the operations relating to auditing, training and other administrative management that enhances the institutional audit capacities as well as to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes and methodology as well as to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation with both Supreme Audit Institutions.
